American spending on video games reached $60.4 billion in 2021
The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) and The NPD Group have revealed that annual consumer expenditure on video games in the United States reached a total of $60.4 billion in 2021, which is an increase of 8% over the previous year's spending totals. This demonstrates the good potential that esports betting has in the long term for the gaming sector in the United States.
These data include revenue from all content categories, such as full-game spending, post-launch spending, and subscription spending, in addition to revenue from hardware and accessory sales.
The overall amount spent on content for 2021 reached $51.7 billion, marking a 7% increase over the previous year's total, while the amount spent on hardware jumped by 14% to reach $6.1 billion. The spending on accessories reached $2.7 billion, representing a growth of 2% over the previous year.

In addition, mobile data given by Sensor Tower demonstrated an increase of 14% from 2020 in the amount of money American consumers spent on mobile games.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is still the most popular video game in the United States, and its sequel, Call of Duty: Black Ops: Cold War, is currently in second place. Candy Crush Saga is the most successful mobile game in terms of revenue, with Roblox coming in at a close second.
