Asia round-up: South Korea, the lifting of the Zhuhai quarantine, and the Global Gaming Awards shortlist

Zhuhai lifts the quarantine for visitors from Macau
Residents of Macau will no longer be subject to the seven-day quarantine rule imposed across the entire territory of Macau and its environs while traveling to Zhuhai City, the neighboring region.
Chinese visitors to Macau arrive in Zhuhai and depart after their vacation there. Travelers relocating to or from Zhuhai will still need to provide a negative Covid certificate that was issued within 24 hours of departure in accordance with the new law.

All guests are urged to stay away from crowded areas and public transportation after arriving. Yet, this does not imply that Macau's own quarantine regulations will soon change. The 14-day self-isolation period in China's special administrative zone has just recently been shortened to seven days.
This came when the region entered a time of stabilization following its post-Covid consolidation phase. Since July 23, 2022, Macau has not had a positive Covid infection.
Sales at Grand Korea Leisure increased month over month.
Grand Korea Leisure (GKL) reported July sales of KRW28.61bn ($21.8m), an increase of 17% month over month.
GKL's numbers, when evaluated annually, are up 278% from the same time in 2021. Despite being large, this can be explained by operations ramping back up to much higher capacities after the lifting of Covid-19-related travel restrictions.
Table game sales increased by 18% month over month to KRW26.09 billion, while machine game sales increased by 10% sequentially to KRW2.52 billion. Three casinos in South Korea are run by GKL under the Seven Luck name, two of which are in Seoul.
The operator is a division of the Korean Tourism Organization, which is connected to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of South Korea.
Paradise Co reports KRW27.36 billion in revenue for July.
The gaming income for July at Paradise Co., a different South Korean casino operator, increased by 297% year over year to KRW27.36 billion ($20.9 million).
As machine slot sales decreased 5% month over month, table game sales increased 139% monthly to KRW24.90bn. Nonetheless, sales were still up 28% from the previous year.
Table drop increased dramatically, reaching KRW235.49 billion for July, a monthly increase of 74%.
Seoul, Jeju, and Incheon all host locations for Paradise Co. They include Paradise City in Incheon, Paradise Jeju on Jeju Island, and the Walkerhill in Seoul.
According to South Korean law, GKL and Paradise both run casinos that are solely for foreign visitors.
