Five social casino commercials were banned by the ASA for suggesting the possibility of winning real money rewards.
Five social casino businesses had their advertisements banned by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) for making the false claim that players may win and withdraw real money from their games.
SpinX Games Ltd., Dataverse Co., Limited., Huuuge Global Limited., Mobee Co., Ltd., and Zeroo Gravity Games LLC. were all fined by the authority.
All of the advertising under review were sponsored promotions on the TikTok app, which deceived users into thinking they could win real money by playing social casino games.
Take Zeroo Gravity Games' Cash Tornado app as an example. It showcased slot gameplay visuals accompanied by appropriate audio. Also, the ASA decided that terms like "hitting the jackpot" were too closely linked to gambling for bettors not to misunderstand.
All five of them were determined to have violated the CAP Code, which is the UK's code for non-broadcast advertising and direct and promotional marketing. Specifically, rule 3.3 makes it clear that advertisements cannot mislead by omitting material facts and rule 3.1 stipulates that marketing communications cannot "materially mislead."
In addition, as Mobee did not react to ASA questions, he was found to have violated rule 1.7. It was deemed as an unjustified delay to the ASA's inquiry, and the body noted it as "apparent disregard" for the CAP Code.
In each of the five instances, the ASA forbade the advertisements from running as they do now and cautioned the businesses involved to remove any suggestion that players could win actual cash or other physical rewards through social casino games.
Ads for social casinos are being punished by the ASA.
As part of a broader inquiry into advertising for gambling products, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has banned these ads. Ads cannot mislead consumers, according to the guidelines.
Advertising social casino games on TikTok is subject to certain guidelines, such as a prohibition on anything that suggests users can win real money or makes clear allusions to gambling.
Ads in question were deleted from TikTok's platform after they were found to violate the platform's regulations.
Putting aside social casino games, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) issued a warning to bookmaker Geoff Banks Online in July for a deceptive promotion that implied, without mentioning it in the ad, that bettors were required to reply to a text message in order to be eligible for the offering.
