The Illinois Gaming Board may impose a $5 million penalties on Accel Entertainment

Accel Entertainment is facing allegations that the company made payments to drum up business and the Illinois Gaming Board wants to punish the company $5 million. According to a report by WBEZ, one of the largest video gambling operators in the United States, Accel, is alleged to have signed a deal with DraftKings that included paying commissions to businesses and enticing them to place Accel machines in more venues. This deal was allegedly part of Accel's attempt to expand its presence in the market.

According to the allegations, the operator paid commissions totaling $21,000, which constitutes a violation of the Illinois Gaming Act because it is against the law to pay incentives in exchange for more business. The corporation has influence over approximately one-fifth of the machines in the state of Illinois.

Accel will reportedly post DraftKings advertisements on its machines in exchange for a payment of $200 for each new client that joined the sports betting site. The arrangement was reportedly reached between the two parties.

Accel would then be entitled to the right to divide this revenue with the establishments that were housing the devices. The gaming board authorized the filing of a disciplinary complaint that was eight pages long and maintained that Accel intended to utilize payments to curry favor with customers.

Andrew Rubenstein, president and chief executive officer of Accel, has declared that the company intends to fight the claims.

He stated, "Here was a situation involving two publicly traded corporations who were completely aware of what they were doing and were acting legally."

Accel's legal counsel, Donna More, stated in an additional statement that the company is "dedicated to conducting itself in line with all applicable gaming laws and regulations."
